Donut Boat Crash Injures Tourists on Beach in South Sulawesi

128

A terrifying beach accident in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, left five tourists injured after a high-speed donut boat ride crashed near the shore. The incident occurred at Pantai Harapan Ammani Beach in Pinrang Regency, where an inflatable tube carrying tourists was being pulled by a speedboat. According to eyewitnesses and viral video footage, the driver reportedly misjudged the turn and came dangerously close to the coastline.

The inflatable tube slammed into the sand at high speed, instantly flipping into the air and throwing all five riders several feet above the beach. The horrifying visuals also showed the tube and riders landing close to children who were playing nearby, causing panic among beachgoers. Although all the riders were wearing life jackets, they suffered injuries after crashing onto the hard sand. Reports said three women required IV treatment, while others suffered bruises and body pain from the impact.

Local officials confirmed that the matter is now under review, and beach management has issued an apology while covering medical expenses and refunding the tourists. Authorities have also promised better operator training and stricter supervision of water sports activities to prevent similar mishaps in the future.

The viral video has sparked serious concerns about tourist safety standards, speed limits near shores, and the regulation of adventure rides at popular beaches. The incident serves as a strong reminder that thrill rides must be backed by strict safety protocols to ensure visitors can enjoy beaches without unnecessary risk.
