Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated four new Vande Bharat Express trains from Varanasi, marking yet another milestone in India’s expanding high-speed rail network. The newly launched routes include Banaras to Khajuraho, Lucknow to Saharanpur, Firozpur to Delhi, and Ernakulam to Bengaluru, each designed to enhance regional connectivity, improve travel convenience, and stimulate economic activity across multiple states.

These routes are expected to reduce travel time by up to 2 hours and 40 minutes, significantly benefiting daily commuters, business travelers, and tourists alike. The addition of these new trains highlights the government’s continued focus on modernizing India’s railway infrastructure through technology, comfort, and efficiency.

The Vande Bharat Express, known for its world-class amenities and semi-high-speed performance, has already served over 7.25 crore passengers nationwide since its introduction. The latest expansion connects key cultural, industrial, and commercial hubs in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, and Karnataka, thereby fostering greater interstate collaboration and development.

During the launch event, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the Vande Bharat initiative symbolizes “India’s new era of progress and self-reliance in transportation.” He added that the government aims to ensure that modern rail travel becomes accessible to every citizen, enhancing both comfort and speed.
