In a move set to ease operating costs for small and medium enterprises, state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) have reduced commercial LPG cylinder prices across major Indian cities starting Saturday. The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been cut by a few rupees, providing modest relief to businesses such as restaurants, hotels, and catering services that depend heavily on LPG for daily operations.

As per the latest revision, the cylinder now costs ₹1,590.50 in Delhi, marking a ₹5 reduction from the previous rate. Kolkata witnessed the steepest decline of ₹6.50, bringing the new price to ₹1,694 per cylinder, followed by Chennai at ₹1,750 and Mumbai at ₹1,542. The adjustment reflects a continuing effort by OMCs to align prices with global energy trends while supporting the domestic service sector.

While the commercial LPG rates have been revised, domestic LPG prices remain unchanged, ensuring stability for household consumers under the government’s Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) and other subsidy-linked schemes.

Industry experts believe the price cut will offer marginal cost relief to food and hospitality businesses, which have faced inflationary pressures and rising input costs in recent months. This marks yet another instance of OMCs’ periodic price adjustments, which are typically reviewed monthly based on international benchmarks.

The latest revision underscores a balanced approach by OMCs—maintaining consumer stability while responding to changing global crude and gas dynamics in India’s energy market.
