A tragic accident in Vrindavan has claimed the lives of at least 10 tourists after a boat capsized on the Yamuna River near Keshi Ghat. The victims were part of a group of around 30 pilgrims from Punjab who had arrived for a religious visit.
According to reports, the group had hired two boats for their journey when one of them lost control, allegedly due to strong winds and high speed. The boat reportedly collided with a floating pontoon bridge, causing it to overturn. Many passengers were thrown into the river as the overcrowded vessel capsized, leading to a major rescue operation.
Emergency teams quickly reached the spot and launched search and rescue efforts to save those in the water. While several people were rescued, the incident unfortunately resulted in multiple fatalities, leaving families and communities in shock.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and to identify any lapses in safety protocols. Questions are being raised about overcrowding, adherence to boating guidelines, and the availability of safety equipment such as life jackets.
This tragic incident highlights the urgent need for stricter enforcement of safety measures to prevent such accidents and ensure the safety of tourists and pilgrims.
