A shocking video from Gujarat’s Gandhidham Railway Station has sparked widespread outrage after cleaning staff were allegedly seen throwing garbage directly onto the railway tracks. The clip, which quickly went viral on social media, has raised serious concerns over waste management practices and the implementation of cleanliness standards at public transport hubs.
The video, reportedly shared by a social media user, shows a worker in an orange uniform standing beside a large garbage bin on the platform and dumping waste onto the tracks in plain sight. Plastic bottles and litter were already visible below, leaving many viewers upset and questioning how such negligence could occur at a railway station, where cleanliness drives are regularly promoted.
As the video gained traction online, several citizens demanded strict action against those responsible and called for stronger monitoring mechanisms. Responding swiftly, Western Railway officials acknowledged the issue and directed the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ahmedabad, to investigate the matter. Later, railway authorities issued an apology, stating that the concerned staff had been counselled and a suitable penalty had been imposed on the contractor responsible for the lapse.
The incident has reignited debate around on-ground cleanliness practices and the gap between public campaigns and actual execution. Citizens are now urging authorities to introduce stricter waste disposal rules, better supervision, and stronger accountability to ensure railway stations remain truly clean and hygienic.
