182

Unverified reports emerging on Wednesday morning have claimed a tragic aircraft accident in Baramati, Maharashtra, allegedly resulting in the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar. According to these reports, a private chartered aircraft carrying Pawar crashed while attempting to land at Baramati airport, killing all six people on board. Authorities have not yet issued an official confirmation, and details remain subject to verification.

As per preliminary accounts circulating in local media, the aircraft—reported to be a Learjet 45—was flying from Mumbai to Baramati for scheduled political engagements linked to upcoming local body elections. Around 8:45 am, the plane allegedly developed a technical issue during its landing approach, leading to loss of control. The aircraft reportedly veered off the runway, collided near the landing area, and burst into flames.

Visuals shared online show fire brigade teams dousing a large blaze as thick smoke rose from the crash site. Police, emergency responders, and medical teams rushed to the scene, but the intensity of the fire reportedly hampered rescue efforts. The reports claim that six occupants, including security personnel and crew members, lost their lives.

The news, if confirmed, would mark a devastating moment for Maharashtra’s political landscape. Ajit Pawar is regarded as a seasoned administrator and a key figure in state politics. Leaders across party lines are said to be closely monitoring developments, with expressions of concern pouring in while awaiting official statements.

The state administration and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) are expected to initiate a detailed probe to ascertain the cause of the alleged crash. Until formal confirmation is released by authorities, the situation remains fluid, and the public is advised to rely on verified updates.
